Personalized birthday paper plates
Heavyweight paper plates printed with the name, the age, the birth year or a photograph. Dessert plates at 7 inches for cake and a children's table, dinner plates at 9 inches for pizza, barbecue or whatever the meal actually is.
Kids' parties and milestone birthdays both work here, and they want different things. A four-year-old wants a big bold name and a color they chose. A fiftieth wants a number, a good typeface and no cartoons anywhere near it.
The cake plate
Dessert plates are what most people order, because cake goes out to everyone in the room at the same moment and that is when the photographs get taken. Ordering only those, and using ordinary plates for the meal, is a perfectly sensible way to do it.
Match them to birthday napkins, or see birthday plates and napkins sets.
How ordering works
Choose a size and quantity, from 8 plates to 800, give us the name and age, and we design it. A free digital proof comes before printing. U.S. orders over $75 ship free.
Birthday plate questions
How many plates do I need?
One dessert plate per guest for cake, and one dinner plate each if you are serving a meal. For 40 guests, 40 dessert and 40 dinner plates. Orders start at 8, so a small family birthday works too.
Which size for cake?
Dessert plates at 7 inches. They suit a slice of cake, they are easier for children to carry, and the printed rim stays visible rather than covered in frosting.
Can you microwave paper plates?
Not these. The print and coating are not built for heat, so warm the pizza on ceramic or straight from the box and serve on these.
Can I put a photo on a plate?
Yes. A single face works well at 7 inches; a group shot does not, so crop in close. Bear in mind the middle of the plate will be covered by food, so we place photographs toward the rim.
Are they sturdy enough?
Yes, heavyweight and coated. For barbecue or anything with sauce, take the 9 inch dinner plate rather than making the 7 inch do a job it was not built for.
How far ahead should I order?
Two to three weeks, and earlier for a surprise party, where you also want the delivery going somewhere other than the house.
