40th anniversary napkins for the ruby year
Personalized napkins printed with both names, the original wedding date and the number 40. Forty years is the ruby anniversary, which gives you a palette without having to invent one: deep red, burgundy and gold against cream or ivory.
A fortieth is usually the first anniversary a couple throws a real party for, with children old enough to organise it and grandchildren old enough to attend. The napkins are one of the few things at it that carry both names and the date.
Recreate the original
If the wedding invitation from 1986 is in a box somewhere, send us a photograph of it. Matching the original typeface on the anniversary napkins is one of the more moving things we get asked to do.

How many do I need?
One to two dinner napkins per guest for a seated meal, plus two to three cocktail napkins each for drinks and cake. For 50 guests, around 75 dinner and 125 cocktail napkins.
What color is a 40th anniversary?
Ruby. Deep red and burgundy with gold, on cream or ivory. It gives the party a palette without anyone having to choose one, and guests recognise it immediately.
Can you recreate the original wedding invitation?
Often, yes. Send a clear photograph or scan. We cannot always match an exact typeface from the eighties, but we get close, and you see it on the proof before printing.
What should the wording say?
Both first names with the wedding date and 40 years. Married since, then the year, is the cleaner alternative when the number is the point of the day.
How far ahead should I order?
Three to four weeks, and longer if we are recreating an invitation or restoring a photograph, since both take a person some time before printing starts.
