How much do I need for 40 guests?

40 to 80 dinner napkins for the meal, 80 to 120 cocktail napkins for the drinks beforehand, and 60 coasters if there is a bar. This is a seated event, so the dinner size matters more than at the reception.

Which size napkin?

Dinner, 6.5 x 6.5 inches, for the table, where it sits under the cutlery. Cocktail, 4.8 x 4.8 inches, for the drinks. Ordering both is the normal split at a rehearsal dinner.

What side does the napkin go on?

To the left of the plate, under the forks. On a crowded table, folded into a rectangle on top of the plate is equally correct and shows the printed design better.

Should it match the wedding?

Both are common. Matching makes the weekend feel like one event; contrasting gives the rehearsal its own character. Keeping the typeface and changing the color is the middle path most couples land on.

Why fun fact napkins here?
