Color Guide
Every color we stock and every color we print, and how the two combine. Worth two minutes before you order, because the biggest choice is not which shade you want. It is whether the color comes from the napkin or from the ink.
The one decision that changes everything
There are two ways to get color onto a napkin, and they work in opposite directions.
Foil
A metallic finish pressed onto a colored napkin. Here the napkin carries the color and the foil carries the shine. This is why foil orders have a long list of napkin colors to choose from. It is the classic wedding look and it suits names, monograms, dates and line artwork.
Full color printing
Ink printed onto a white or ecru napkin. Here the ink carries the color, so the napkin stays pale. This handles florals, photographs, pet portraits, patterns and anything with more than one color, which foil simply cannot do.
So: if you want a navy napkin, you want foil. If you want a navy design, full color prints it on white. Both are right, they just look different on a table.
Napkin colors
With foil
Cocktail: White, Ecru, Sand, Blush, Orange, Claret, Navy, Silver, Slate, Black.
Dinner: White, Ecru, Sand, Blush, Coral, Orange, Magenta, Claret, Wine, Marine, Navy, Silver, Slate, Black.
Guest towel: White, Ecru, Blush, Navy, Silver.
Full color printing
White and Ecru, in all three sizes. Ecru is the soft off-white; it reads warmer on a wood table and photographs less starkly than bright white.
Foil colors
Twenty-three finishes: White matte, Rose gold, Gold, Gold glitter, Bronze, Copper, Pink, Passion, Violet, Wine, Red, Cool blue, Blue, Royal, Naval, Sage, Teal, Hunter, Forest, Silver, Silver glitter, Black shiny, Black matte.
Gold on white is the safe classic. Rose gold on blush is the softest combination we print. Silver or white matte on navy or black is the most formal. Sage, Hunter and Forest are the green foils, and Sage on ecru is the closest we get to the sage-and-cream palette weddings keep asking for.
Print colors
Twenty-six ink colors: Beige, Gold, Copper, Dark brown, Yellow, Apricot, Orange, Orange red, Red, Dark red, Light pink, Pink, Hot pink, Lavender, Purple, Dark violet, Light blue, Blue, Turquoise, Dark blue, Light green, Green, Dark green, Light gray, Dark gray, Black. On plates and labels, White is available too.
These are the colors you pick for the text and artwork. Because it is printing rather than foil, a design can use several at once.
Plate colors
Paper plates come in twenty-four: White, Ecru, Sand, Yellow, Coral, Orange, Red, Claret, Wine, Blush, Pink, Magenta, Hot pink, Lavender, Violet, Light blue, Blue, Marine, Navy, Green, Hunter, Silver, Slate, Black. Your text is printed on top in any of the ink colors above.
The other products
- Favor labels and stickers: pick a background color and a text color, both from the full ink range.
- Can coolers: choose a pattern (plain, dots, stripes, gingham, camo or hearts), then pick the base color and the pattern color yourself from a full color picker. Any shade you can name.
- Bar signs: background and text color are both free color pickers, so a sign can be matched exactly to the rest of your table.
- Coasters: choose your background color, with or without metallic foil.
The colors people ask for
Sage green
The wedding color of the moment, and there is no sage napkin stock. Two ways to get there: Sage foil on ecru, which is soft and slightly metallic, or full color printing in Light green or Green on white, which gives a flatter, truer sage. Send us the exact shade from your invitations and we will match it as closely as print allows.
Dusty blue
Print it. Light blue or Blue ink on white is the closest match. Marine and Navy are stock napkin colors but both are considerably deeper than dusty blue.
Blush
The one case where you get it both ways. Blush is a stock napkin color in all three sizes with foil, and Light pink is an ink color for printing. Blush napkin with rose gold foil is the most-ordered bridal shower combination we make.
Terracotta and burgundy
Claret and Wine are the stock napkins in that family, and Wine is also a foil. For a true terracotta, printing in Orange red or Apricot on ecru gets closer than any stock napkin does.
Black and ivory
Both stock, both in every size. Ecru is our ivory. Black with gold or silver foil is the standard for milestone birthdays, New Year and modern weddings.
Matching your event colors
Screens lie and print is physical, so a color will never be identical to what you see on your phone. What we can do is get close, and show you before we print. Tell us the shade in whatever form you have it (a hex code, a paint name, a photo of the bridesmaid dress, a link to your invitation) and put it in the special requests box when you order.
And if you cannot see the color you want in the list, say so in the same box. The list is what appears on the page, not the limit of what we can do.
Every order includes a free design proof, so you see your colors on your design before anything prints. More on that in how personalization works, and sizes are in the sizing guide.
