Luncheon napkins, the dinner size for a seated meal

The middle size, 6.5 x 6.5 inches folded, called luncheon or dinner depending on who you ask. On our product pages it appears as Dinner ยท 6.5 x 6.5 inches. It is the napkin that sits under the cutlery at a set table, large enough to open across a lap and hold up through a full meal.

Personalized with your names, a family name and the year, a monogram or a full design. Full color print or real metallic foil. The extra surface over a cocktail napkin means longer wording and larger type actually work here.

When to choose this size

Any meal people sit down for: rehearsal dinners, Thanksgiving, Christmas dinner, a wedding breakfast, a baptism lunch. For the bar and cocktail hour you want cocktail size, and most events use both.

How ordering works

Pick a design and quantity, give us the wording, and we design it. A free digital proof arrives before printing and changes at that stage cost nothing. U.S. orders over $75 ship free.

Luncheon and dinner napkin questions

What size are luncheon napkins?

6.5 x 6.5 inches folded, opening to roughly 13 x 13. Luncheon and dinner are the same size in our range; the product pages call it Dinner. It is noticeably larger than a 4.8 inch cocktail napkin.

How many do I need?

One to two per guest for a seated meal. For 40 at the table, order 60 to 80: some guests take a second, and a few end up on a serving dish. The minimum order is 50.

What side does the napkin go on?

To the left of the plate, under the forks, in a standard American place setting. On a crowded table, folded into a rectangle on top of the plate is equally correct and shows the printed design better.

How should I fold them?

Keep it simple on a printed napkin. One fold into a rectangle under the fork, a loose roll around the cutlery, or a fold with the printed corner turned up. Sculptural folds hide the design you paid to print.

Luncheon or cocktail size?

Luncheon for a meal at a table, cocktail for drinks in the hand. If your event has both a bar and a dinner, order both sizes; they are priced separately and do different jobs.

Can I fit more wording on this size?

Yes, and it is the main reason to choose it beyond the meal itself. Longer lines, a toast, a set of fun facts or a three-letter monogram all read comfortably here and look cramped at cocktail size.
